New Look has become a leading international fashion retailer with 1,000 stores in 15 countries in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. In 2009 alone 355 million people visited New Look online or at one of its stores.

New Look commissioned ECS to develop iLook, a global multilingual collaborative communications hub on Oracle UCM platform.

Due to the client’s aggressive timeline, ECS proposed a fast-moving staged approach to deliver the new intranet with all of its components. ECS was able to quickly deliver project elements by reusing and extending some of its intranet solution modules including Staff Directory, Calendar, Collaborate, Vacancies, Surveys and Classified Ads. With this approach, the client’s project was accelerated and de-risked because both development work and testing had previously been completed. With simple configuration setup and reskinning to fit the corporate branding, these solutions were successfully implemented in a short space of time.

The creation of a new intranet hoped to achieve the additional goals of ensuring staff felt engaged, informed, and globally connected. ECS leveraged online workspaces and Enterprise 2.0 networking tools to build communities and streamline business and social collaboration between staff in all countries and time zones.

The resulting intranet enabled employees to create blogs, wikis, tags, and bookmarks to update colleagues, partners, and suppliers on projects. It improved staff efficiency through rapid search times and online working, while cutting travel, paper, and storage costs. The intranet won the International Solution of the Year at BT Retail Week Technology Awards in 2010.
