Innospec Case Study
ECS was commissioned by Innospec to redesign its intranet and create a web application to allow researchers to collaborate on projects. Key aspects of the project included improving search capabilities and simplifying contribution.
ECS engaged with a number of departments within the organisation to establish their requirements and used this information to develop a number of core components which could be reused across multiple areas of the project.
In the previous site many users were frustrated with complexity of the search form and its unpredictability of finding results. ECS proposed a method of allowing users to drill down through a logical hierarchy of one or two levels and then presenting a set of search results which users could further refine and filter. This proved a very successful way of allowing users to quickly locate the information they required.
Part of the solution included a collaboration web application; ECS customised the ECM software collaboration capabilities to improve the user interface and include additional functionality such as discussion forums and reference documents.
ECS was responsible for all technical aspects of the project including the installation, migration of over 50,000 documents and web pages and training of the administrators and key contributors. The project was completed within the allocated budget and on schedule.
